  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator and the Director of Pharmacy, a pharmacy clinical specialist is responsible for a variety of clinical services related to their assigned specialty. They optimize patient medication therapies by providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services and work collaboratively with the health care team to accomplish their goals. They are the designated pharmacy representative at all inter-disciplinary meetings related to their assigned specialty and are responsible for drug use evaluations, formulary reviews, and other administrative projects related to their assigned specialty.

    The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of science degree in pharmacy, Advanced degree preferred or enrollment in advanced degree program. Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of three to five years’ experience as a registered pharmacist in a hospital functioning in a clinical capacity or completion of an ASHP accredited residency.
    • Current Florida state license required
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) (may be completed within first 30 days of employment)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) (may be completed within first 30 days of employment)
    • BCPS Certification or similar certification in practice specialty
    • Pharmacokinetic and Renal Dosing
    • Anticoagulation monitoring and dosing
    • Total Parenteral Nutrition evaluations
    • Basic principles in Antimicrobial Stewardship
    • Basic computer skills including MS Word and MS PowerPoint
    • Advanced use of internet and drug information research
    • Effective communication skills
    • Able to work well on interdisciplinary teams
