  • Overview

    The Surgical Services Coordinator serves as coordinator for the Surgical Services’ Directors, relieving them of various administrative details.  The incumbent provides clerical, typing, administrative, and scheduling assistance for Clinical Managers, assistant managers, charge nurses, and Directors.  The Surgical Services Coordinator provides support for all aspects of HR, Payroll and Education activities related to Surgical Services. 



    The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.


    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required
    • Three years previous health care related experience required
    • Enhanced critical thinking, analytical and trouble-shooting skills, keen ability to prioritize, and mulit-tasking mandatory
    • Knowledge of Medical terminology, particularly as it relates to surgical environment
    • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate well with others. 
    • Strong software and computer application skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, report writing, and graphics applications.
    • Able to produce high quality work with minimal supervision;
    • Well-informed of analytical tools and comparative databases.
    • Knowledgeable of reporting regulations / requirements regarding data submission. 
    • Knowledgeable regarding evidenced-based practice / desired clinical outcomes;
    • Ability to perform general office procedures and practices, including computer operations, oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel, Business Objects, PC skills, an understanding of commonly used software. Payroll management knowledge.
