  • Overview

    The Registered Nurse-Pre/Post provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse-Pre/Post performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other professionals in the facility. Performs similar duties in other areas of the facility as assigned.  The Registered Nurse-Pre/Post works under the supervision of the the Clinical Manager.   She/He is responsible for the assessment, care coordination, and implementation of the post operative care plan of the patient according to prescribed procedures. She/he utilizes post surgical care knowledge to prepare the patient for the next level of care.  The Registered Nurse-Pre/Post is responsible for the education post operatively and physician follow up in office of the surgical patient. Responsible for correct documentation during the postoperative phase of treatment. 

     

    The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

    Qualifications

    • Must have ASN degree or Nursing Diploma
    • One year Acute Care RN experience is required, preferably in Critical Care or PACU
    • Current State of Florida RN licensure
    • BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association is required
    • Demonstrated proficiency in perioperative nursing, knowledge, and skills
    • Critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to changes in patient status, department workload
