  • Overview

    The Corporate Scheduling Associate is responsible for scheduling Outpatient Diagnostic Services for patients and Physicians’ Offices within the Baptist HealthCare System. These functions include Scheduling by phone, by receiving faxes, and through scheduling software. Additional responsibilities include Insurance Verification and Precertification, Patient Financial Clearance protocol, and providing excellent Customer Service to our customers (Patients, Physician Offices, and Ancillary Service Lines). This position ensures that patient demographics, insurance information, and insurance benefits, are obtained and entered into our Patient accounting system. Using the daily list of departmental schedules for all outpatients areas, scheduled surgeries, and the inpatient census reports, the Verifier will check insurance eligibility, obtain benefits, obtain required authorizations, and contact patients with financial liability at least 3 days prior to the date of service or for inpatients within 24 hours business hours after the patient is admitted.

    The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

    Qualifications

    Requirements for Corporate Scheduling Associate:

    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
    • Six months previous registration or Customer service and/or scheduling experience preferred.
    • Medical Terminology. Written communication skills. Verbal communication skills. Coding. Specific applications to use PC applications to achieve work goal. Office applications: email, fax module, scans PDF. Fast paced work environment. Meeting deadlines. Organized. Time management. Conforming to standards. Phone customer service. Scheduling services. Registration. Work well with other departments to achieve goal. Interpreting insurance coverage and reimbursement. Patient privacy. Coordination patient needs with various service levels. Works well within a team structure.

    Requirements for Corporate Scheduling Associate II:

    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
    • Two (2) years relevant healthcare revenue cycle experience (patient access, financial assistance, insurance billing, patient and/or insurance collections, reimbursement, health care customer service, payer contracting, or coding) is required. Experience in a healthcare customer scheduling preferred. Less job experience is required with completed advanced education (Associates, Bachelors, or Masters’ degree).
    • CRCS-I or P or CHAA Certification is required
