Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. As a direct care staff, the Technician spends the majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. These responsibilities may include, but is not limited to assisting with ambulating and mobilization of patients, taking and recording the patient’s vital signs (i.e., BP, Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, & O2 sat), weighing patients, assisting with bedpans and toileting, sanitizing chairs and changing chair covers between patients, anticipating and providing patient comfort needs, and relaying pertinent information to the nurse. Along with ensuring a safe environment, he or she develops with each individual a therapeutic relationship which is critical in the healing process.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
