  • Overview

    The Unit Coordinator position is responsible for greeting/ assisting customers during office visits, and receiving incoming telephone calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.  The person in this position is available as a resource and communicator for physicians, patients, department, and hospital personnel, visitors, etc., regarding the overall daily operations of the Department. This position is responsible for accurately entering daily charges by close of business each day to ensure proper charge capture.  This position is responsible for but not limited to: entering patient demographics into the Practice/Hospital Management system, verifies health plan eligibility for each patient before the scheduled appointment, explains financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties and collects co-pays as required. 


    The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters


    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required
    • One year experience in healthcare is required
    • Knowledge of medical terminology; records management.
    • Skill and confident with use of computers and related software applications.
    • Ability to deal appropriately with confidential information.
    • Able to function effectively with frequent interruptions.
    • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives.
    • Ability to prioritize work.
    • Be able to make recommendations and handle complaints and requests in a professional and calm manner.
