  • Overview

    The Physician Liaison –IT’s major function is to promote and assist in streamlining the process of all Information Technology services for Baptist Health Care, Inc. among our medical staff and referring community physicians. The position will function as a consistent link with our physicians (hospitalists, ambulatory, community, ED) and their office staff to ensure effective communication, support (technical, application, and training) of our systems. This position will serve as primary contact point for all IT related issues working closely with the IT Service Desk, Application Analysts, and Clinical Informatics to resolve problems. The IT physician liaison will also work with the system security administrator in maintaining a current list of physicians/office staff users of BHC systems for compliance purposes.  This position requires heavy travel among Baptist Health Care facilities and practices to maintain a rapport with the clinician community as well as provide superior IT service.


    The position requires superior time management skills and the ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.  It also requires the ability to work various shifts during system go lives or major upgrades as needed and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.


    • Two years’ experience working with clinicians supporting the daily use of healthcare information systems within a hospital or large practice network including training experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or technology related field is required
    • Proficient with the use and integration of desktop and laptop PCs, mobile devices, and web based applications to support clinician end user adoption.
    • Knowledge of web browsers, Citrix, Active Directory to assist in troubleshooting connectivity and login issues.
    • Strong knowledge of clinical and administrative workflows and systems utilized in physician practices and hospitals clinical applications.
    • Knowledge of Meaningful Use, PQRS, Hedis and other regulatory guidelines that support quality incentives.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, medical terminology, and the ability to handle themselves with extreme professionalism with physicians and their staff under considerable stress.
