  • Overview

    The Access Support Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the Access Coordinators and the Authorization Coordinator positions. It is the responsibility of the Access Support Supervisor is to accurately collect patient demographic and insurance data to ensure appropriate reimbursement and supporting the organization’s clean claim rate goal.  They will utilize technology to accurately quote and collect patient liabilities that have been identified by the insurance company and obtain any necessary authorizations to cover the admission in support of the denial management team. Works directly with Case Management to ensure they have the correct data in order to send clinical documentation to insurance companies. They will be responsible for supporting patient flow throughout the admission and emergency room encounter. Under the direction of the Patient Access Services Manager, the supervisor is responsible to follow all registration and admitting policies and procedures and perform a variety of Admitting/Administrative tasks to arrange the admission and financial clearance of patients to Baptist Healthcare.

     

    The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required
    • Two (2) years of health care administrative function experience is required. Two (2) years of supervisory experience in healthcare care revenue cycle function is preferred.
    • Must be able to demonstrate the following: Medical Terminology, Written communication skills, Verbal communication skills, Medicare regulations, Coding, Excel, WORD,  Specific applications to use PC applications to achieve work goal, Office applications: email, fax module, scan PDF, Fast paced work environment, Meeting deadlines, Organized, Time management, Conforming to standards, Phone customer service, Managing projects, Face-to-face customer service, Patient collection process, Billing process, Scheduling, Registration,  Healthcare financial regulations,  Work well with other departments to achieve goal, Insurance collections process, Interpreting insurance coverage and reimbursement, Patient privacy, Coordination patient needs with various service levels, Leadership, Data entry, Team building, Mentoring team members, Team relations, Staff scheduling, Works well within a team structure, Drive and Navigate geographic directions.
