The Charge Nurse is an experienced RN with in-depth knowledge and understanding of providing nursing care to a population of OB/GYN and infants patients and their families. This position requires the coordinator to impact care in a variety of settings. Under the direction of the Manager, the Charge Nurse fulfills the roles of clinician, educator, and consultant.
The Charge Nurse manages the coordination of patient care throughout the OB/GYN unit. The Charge Nurse’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift and is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the department/area.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
