Overview

Serves as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for all of Baptist Health Care to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other information security regulations applicable to BHC.  The CISO shall oversee and ensure compliance with both the required and addressable, technical, administrative and physical safeguards in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, especially the HIPAA Security Rules. The position works under the direction of the Vice President and Chief Information Officer with support from the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.   

 

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters or EHR system events.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in information systems or a related healthcare field.
  • Seven to ten years of senior work in IT application development and support, analytics or security. 
  • Recommended Security certification such as Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) and/or other healthcare industry related security credentials. As a job qualification for the information security function, the Certified Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) or similar information security certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in state and federal information security laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, including NIST, PCI and all other applicable regulation. Demonstrated organization, facilitation, written and oral communication, and presentation skills. Self-starter who is results oriented, with a willingness and desire to work with and through others to accomplish departmental and organizations objectives.  A team player who is able to work well with all levels of the organization.  Politically savvy with a high tolerance for ambiguity and can work successfully in a matrix management model. Proven organizational, leadership and consensus-building skills related to developing a shared vision among diverse stakeholders, systems-thinking, innovation, and the guiding and implementation of successful strategies and enterprises within a complex system in a competitive marketplace.
