Overview

This position is responsible for scheduling patients for Surgical Services and Outpatient Diagnostic Services for patients within the Baptist Health Care System. The primary role of this position includes scheduling via phone, faxes and electronic orders received through Order Facilitator from the ordering Physician’s office.   Adheres to and ensures all of Baptist’s surgical guidelines are followed when scheduling Surgery cases.  Additional responsibilities include maintaining the surgery schedule, processing surgery reschedules and cancellations, scheduling other Outpatient Diagnostic procedures and providing excellent customer service to patients, physicians’ office staff, physicians and ancillary service departments. Coordination with insurance verification and precertification team and other related Patient Access teams is required.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required
  • One year of registration and/or scheduling experience is  required
  • Computer literate and experienced in Excel
  • Very strong organization skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate at different levels
  • Ability to work well with teams
  • Customer focused attitude
  • Ability to function in high paced, often stressful environment and/or circumstances while maintaining a respectful, caring and professional manner
