The Charge Nurse is an experienced RN with in-depth knowledge and understanding of providing and overseeing nursing care to critical patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit to patients. This position requires the ability to impact care in a variety of settings. Under the direction of the Critical Care Services Manager, the Charge Nurse fulfills the roles of clinician, educator, and consultant. The Charge Nurse manages the coordination of patient care throughout the Critical Care Services Division The Charge Nurse’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift and is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the department/area. The Charge Nurse provides care and education for the patients based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position will manage individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
