Overview

**This is a Temp position, lasting 90 days to 6 months.  

 

Under the direction of the Coding Manager, this position is responsible for verifications by contacting patients or insurance carriers of charges received, adding demographic including insurance information and entering CPT and ICD-9 codes to the practice management system. 

 

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree Required
  • Knowledge and support of the Clinic’s corporate compliance initiative and communicate any suspected billing inaccuracies in a timely manner to the Business Services Director, Physicians Office Billing Manager or Compliance Officer; Must be able to use a computer, calculator, fax, copier and other office tools needed to perform daily job duties; ability to make mathematical computations;  and organizing files; Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines; Ability to investigate patient accounts for accuracy and completeness; Ability to analyze, problem solve and use good judgment when resolving accounts; Ability to professionally communicate with insurance carriers, governmental payers and patients to facilitate the adjudication of the outstanding accounts; Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, when in contact with co-workers, management, physicians, patients, insurance companies, governmental and third party payers; Responsible for self educating on upcoming changes through legislation which affect the healthcare industry as a whole; Must have good team member skills to encourage and foster both individual and team growth.
