Overview

The HIT Manager- Ambulatory is responsible for the planning, executing and supporting of business related to all areas across the continuum of care (practice management, ER, acute, ambulatory, and ancillary) covered by the Baptist Health Care EHR.  .  .  Understands vendor contracts, providing guidance to contract negotiation prior to execution and adherence to contract upon execution.  Reviews current status of system applications and prepares recommendations for systems improvements.   Leads Teams on projects, service requests and support tickets; including management of scope, expectations, status, risks, issue follow-up, and status reports.Provides vision and forward thinking to continue to keep Baptist Healthcare at the forefront in the use of health information technology.  Works cohesively with peers in support of the EHR at Baptist Healthcare.  Works respectfully with all levels within the organization (C-suite to staff levels).  Performs the functions of the job with focus given to Quality, Patient Safety, and Fiscal Responsibility. 

 

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Five years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
  • Ten years applications experience and demonstrated leadership skills

  • Five years managing teams, projects, and employees in a healthcare environment

  • Analytical and logical thinking.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills
  • Knowledge of business in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles
  • Understanding of Meaningful Use and other government health care reform initiatives and regulations is required. 
  • Effective Communication Skills (verbal and written) is required including problem solving.
