Overview

The Environmental Services Technician position performs cleaning tasks in patient rooms, offices, nurses’ stations, ancillary areas, public areas according to hospital/facility prescribed procedures. Perform trash removal, furniture moves, cleaning of equipment, store room and dock, emergency flood clean-ups. Cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of the hospital to maintain an aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the hospital. Comply with policies and procedures to achieve a safe, clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and employees.  This position is responsible for the daily operation of the UV light disinfection device in patient and non-patient areas.

 

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required
  • Three years customer service experience in a related field
  • Completion of UV light certification within 30 days of employment/transfer
  • Possesses the necessary skills to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers, write simple correspondence, and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
  • Must have good working knowledge and be capable of accessing and using all department related computer systems.
